Mask Layers
White Reveals, Black Conceals
- Start by adding a photo - stock images are easy to use right in the program
- Right click on photo in LAYERS panel and Rasterize the photo so it turns into a pixel layer
- Now add a new layer
- Go to LAYER tab
- Select NEW LIVE FILTER LAYER (all of these are non-destructive)
- Choose one - ie-Gaussian Blur
- Now there is a new layer added to your photo
- If you look at it in the LAYERS panel, you will see that it is a white box
Paint with Black Brush
Now if you want to remove some of the Gaussian Blur from the photo so it is clear, you will use a black brush
- Select the PAINT BRUSH TOOL
- Go to BRUSHES panel and select a soft brush
- Make sure to only select the LIVE FILTER LAYER, not both that layer and the photo
- Adjust the size of the brush to preference
- "Paint" on photo. This will not show paint, but will remove the blur from whatever you paint it on.
- This works to make part of the photo crisp while the rest is blurred out
